This mix was done rather spontaneously to recapture the wonderful early morning vibe of my guest spot at a splendid warehouse party in Glasgow in July. I could do this every weekend. If you like, you may imagine some sun already shining through the roof and a crowd tired by hours of dancing and drinks, but refusing to let go.

Disco Past 04 > Disco DVDs

If you're interested in DVDs documenting key periods of dance music history, here are some recommendations:

Maestro - A moving insight into New York's Disco Glory Days, featuring interviews with a lot of the protagonists of that period and some rare live footage from legendary clubs.  As doucumentary it has its flaws, but it doesn't fail to deliver some lasting moments.

Downtown 81 - A very interesting feature film portrait of the 80's Downtown New York Post-Punk-Disco set.  The film accompanies Jean Michel Basquiat, who hustles through the hip districts, jumping back and forth between art galleries, clubs and studios. Thus we get cameos by almost every key figure of the scene, some awesome live and studio footage by Kid Creole, James Chance, DNA and Tuxedomoon and a soundtrack ranging between Suicide and Melle Mel.

Made In Sheffield - A documentary about the late 70's/early 80's sound of Sheffield and its main exponents The Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, Heaven 17 and ABC plus a lot of others. It has interesting interviews, rare archive footage and some hilarious hairstyles. The main film is a bit short and ends when the portrayed bands enjoyed their period of stardom but the extras make up for that.
